Limburg – Belgium and Holland Tour
With the fine luxury Yacht Miro, you start a wonderful and varied Bike and Boat Holiday in Belgium and Holland. You cycle through the Maas Valley – the Valley of the Voerregion and the three Limburg regions: the Haspengouw, De Hoge Kempen, and the Maasland. The Miro accommodates a minimum number of six and a maximum of ten guests.
Limburg is the ultimate biking and walking paradise with more than 2000 kilometers of car-free superior quality bicycle tracks. This area boasts excellent signposts which were redesigned and updated in 2015 and outstanding cuisine. It is famous for its numerous Limburg and Belgian beers, delicious fruit pies and chocolate pralines.
This Belgium and Holland cycling and boat holiday leads us through splendid old cities, villages, and wonderfully varied scenery. Almost everywhere you ride is flat although in some cases you will travel on lightly rolling bicycle tracks and local roads. The degree of difficulty is rated Easy to Moderate. An option on this tour is to also incorporate or substitute walking tours on many of the routes.
The Tour Limburg Sensational of Belgium and Holland offers guests the opportunity to extend or shorten the daily bike tours, according to their wishes. The bike rides are self-guided with maps, directions and GPS navigation systems provided.

Price: $1,200.00 USD per person based on double occupancy. An additional fee of 98,50 Euros is not included and will be collected on board directly to the Captain. The fee covers fuel charges, bike insurance, tourist taxes and harbor fees.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 : Embarkation Limburg Belgium and Holland Tour
You arrive in Maastricht via your own transportation. Embarkation is 12:00 pm in the marina Pietersplas. The marina has video surveillance and reserved places for parking cars. On board we start with a warm welcome, a drink and a briefing about the tour Belgium and Holland, Limburg Sensational. The bikes are adjusted for every individual. After this, we sail with the MIRO through the locks of Lanaye (18 meters fall) towards Liège Angleur.
The locks of Lanaye are the highest locks in the River Meuse and are an impressive event. We continue our Belgium and Holland tour through the locks of Visé through the beautiful valley of Visé to Monsin. We moor in Liège Angleur, right in the centre of the historical Old Town. We enjoy a fine dinner in Liège and in the evening there is an opportunity to take a city tour with the skipper. He takes you to the famous Citadel and Café Chantant Le Jardin des Ollivette*, where the atmosphere is determined by the Liègois folk music and French Chansons.
Day 2: Angleur, Eijsden, Kanne 42km.
Riding through the valley of the Ourthe is biking and enjoying with all your senses! Early in the morning we enjoy a pleasant Skippers breakfast. After breakfast there is an opportunity to visit the famous Sunday market, La Batte, the oldest Sunday market in Belgium. First of all we start our bike tour through the beautiful valley of the Voer to the wonderful Castle of Eijsden then onto the delightful village of Kanne. We take a beautiful rural bike tour along the small river Voer. Back in Kanne we have dinner in a nice local restaurant and consequently spend the night at the city quay. You are free to spend the rest of the evening as you please. You also have the opportunity to visit the Limestone caves with dinner (this is a guided tour and not included ).
Day 3: Lanaken, Rekem, Maasmechelen ,Bree 45 km.
Today’s Belgium and Holland tour leads us through an enchanted world of legendary castles, miraculous legends and a mysterious past. Centuries-old stories are told in this fairy-tale setting of sweet fruit blossoms, green woods and endless panoramic views. Hence the Land of the Haspengouw has you in its spell from which you will never be set free. We visit the splendid medieval castle ruins of Pietersheim, the oldest castle between the Loire and the Rhine rivers. Beautiful bike landscapes and bike tracks are ours to enjoy in the national park Hogekempen.
We board the MIRO again in Maasmechelen, since it boasts an outstanding outlet shopping center, you may want to visit the shops known as Maasmechelen Village. A beautiful sailing tour over the romantic old canal brings us to the small border town of Bree. Moored beneath the city for the evening we enjoy dinner and an evening stroll through the streets of this small picturesque town.
Day 4: Bree, Achel, Stevensweert 45 km
Taste La Dolce Vita in Limburg!
The Limburg National Park Hoge Kempen surprises you with beautiful bike routes between large woods, impressive land dunes and mysterious pools. A visit to the old Benedictine Abby, then the brewery of Achel with their famous Abby beer and cheese round out the morning. There are some very good bike cafés along the route, and perhaps you don’t want to go too far today? No problem. You simply shorten the route in the city of Weert. The Miro will sail us over the romantic small canals to the Fortification Stevensweert. We will have dinner in the city of Weert under the beautiful medieval church and spend the night on the wooded river banks.
Day 5: Thorn, Maaseik, Thorn 42 km
Boundless enjoyment in Limburg! While the guests are enjoying breakfast the Miro sails to the famous city of Thorn.
9:30 a.m. the bikes are taken from the boat as we discuss the tour. In Thorn we start the bike tour over the Maas route to the little Historical City of Maaseik. Along the trails we view beautiful old farmhouses, wineries, castles, and windmills alongside the splendid river landscape and Limburg lakes.
Don’t forget to taste the excellent cuisine and the famous Belgian chocolate! The bike tour continues to the famous snow-white Andalucian style museum town of Thorn. Here you meet the Miro again; your sailing hotel that has moored at the landing outside the city walls. Do you want to fish or swim??? Here the beach is white as snow and the swimming water is crystal-clear! This evening you can enjoy taking a walk through this wonderful little medieval museum town.
Day 6: Thorn, Maastricht 45 km.

Today’s bike ride is towards the sun across the beautiful Limburg lakes. The cycle route has us pass the impressive lock-complex at the beginning of the Juliana canal. Through the rural village of Stein with its local brewery, we ride alongside picturesque apple orchards to the village of Elslo with its magnificent castle. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch or cup of coffee. Our tour continues through the splendid wooded Limburg scenery to the historical city of Maastricht, the capital city of Limburg county.
In the evening the Miro takes us to the old historical center of Maastricht. On Thursday evening all shops and museums are open until 9 p.m. Maastricht shows you its unequaled, delightful Burgundian side. As we return on the Miro, we enjoy a drink on the candlelit deck, looking back on a wonderful day.
After a delicious breakfast we disembark at 10 o’clock.

Dinner is always available in reputable local restaurants close to the harbor sites. It is possible to bring along your own bike. (No discount)
