The Hotel Yacht Miro sets sail for the world renowned City of Lights ensuring you a gorgeous autumn trip to Paris or the reverse from Paris to Maastricht.

This delightful river cruise boat and bike holiday is the ideal way to discover the gorgeous landscapes between Maastricht in Holland  and Paris, whether it’s by ship, biking or walking.  It’s entirely up to you.  There is ample time to relax and wonder at the delightful old cities we will dock at along our route.  Resign yourself to the care of the crew, enjoy the luxury and fun on board and take pleasure in an unforgettable sailing adventure through three countries.

In Paris we will dock in the middle of the town so that you will have time to discover this enchanting city.  Your skipper knows Paris like the back of his hand and the cook on board is a real chef who uses his experience and knowledge of the region to ensure a fabulous gastronomic experience.  Enjoy, among other things, delicious French wines and renowned French cheeses to accompany them.

Route:  Maastricht – Liege – Namen – Charleroi- Strepy – Mons – Antoine – Valenciennes – Denain – Peronne – Noyon – Compiegne – Creil – Auvers sur L’Oise – Conflance – Sainte Honorine – Bougival – Paris

Price: $2,900.00 USD per person based on double occupancy. Additional 198 EU is due on board to the Captain for Bike insurance, tourist tax, harbor/canal fees  and energy taxes.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Maastricht, Liege

Embarkation is at 12 p.m.  A welcome drink, bicycle adjustments and time for a short cycle ride will prepare us for departure.  The Miro will sail towards Liege.  Along the way we pass through he highest locks in Maasland, ascending 18 meters (approximately 60 feet).  Dinner this evening is in Liege, then enjoy a city walk in this delightful town.

Day 2: Liege, Namur   34km
After a sumptuous breakfast on board a visit to the renowned Sunday Market La Batte, the largest in Belgium, is in order. The Miro will sail to Neuville which is where today’s cycle ride will begin.  The cycle route takes you through gorgeaus

Day 3: Namur, Pont de Loup, Charleroi  38 km
The Miro will sail on to the Famou Abby and Brewery Floreffe.  The landscape offers you visions of the once-booming mining and steel industry that this region was famous for over many centuries.  The cycling tour ends in Pont de Loup and then the Miro will sail us on to Charleroi.

Day 4:  Grosselies, Strepy  40km
A 40 km bike ride will take us to Strepy Thieu and the ship elevator in the Canal du Centre.  The gigantic lift is as big as a football field and bridges a span of 73 meters.  The fantastic engine room and adjoining museum are open to visitors.  Dinner tonight is on board the Miro.

Day 5: Strepy, Mons 37km

Travelling from the Canal Historique du Center, you can first visit 3 smaller ship elevators, one of which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Onward to Mons, the Miro will be moored in the Old Port of this medieval city and its beautiful basilica and town hall.

Day 6: Mons, Antoing  38 km

Old villages and historical landscapes are your view on today’s cycle tour.  At the end of the day we will spend the night in Antoing, a small skipper’s village.  The Village is on the Schelde river and is known by French Skippers as the gate to Belgium.

Day 7: Antoing, Valenciennes

Crossing the French border you will visit the city of Valenciennes.  Valenciennes is a historical city with a cathedral and a local farmers market where you can enjoy the food and lovely french wines.

Day 8: Valenciennes, Bouchain, Peronne 35km

As you cycle from Bouchain to Peronne the Miro will follow its course along the Upper Schelde and dock at Souterrain du Ruyaulcourt.  You will sail through dark shipping tunnels.  The tunnels are 4.354 meters long and cross through the hilly countryside.  Our mooring spot for the night is Peronne where you can visit its castle, beautiful park or the World War I monument and war museum on the Somme River.

Day 9: Peronne, Noyon 55km

Today’s cycle tour will be a bit more challenging taking you all the way to Noyon.  Your will be cycling alongside the Miro and can choose to jump back aboard at every Sluice.  The route wanders through the  storybook French countryside and past rural picturesque villages.  Noyon dated from 600 B.C. and offers many sight seeing monuments and a Cathedral that survived both World Wars. Dinner this evening is served on the aft deck of the Miro.

Day 10: Noyon, St.Jean aux , Bois Compiegne 45 km

Riding through the forest you arrive at the fairy tale Chateau of Pierrefonds.  Continuing on you will arrive at Compiegne known for being the city where Joan of Arc was captured.  This delightful city rich with history is yours to explore at your own pace in the afternoon.

Day 11:  Compiegne, Creil  38 km

Cycle alongside the river Oise and arrive at the old city of Creil where we will moor for the night.

Day 12: Creil, auvers sur L’Oise, Conflance St Honorine 

Our cycle route takes us to ‘l Isle Adam, where Parisians come to play and the Paris influence is obvious.  Next we visit Auvers, the residence of many great artists including Vincent van Gogh. The night is spent in Conflance St. Honorine where the lovely ambiance attracts many skippers who choose to retire here.

Day 13:  St. Honorine, Bougival, Paris

Today you’ll make your entree into Paris! Biking is optional and you may choose to stay aboard as the Miro sails down the Seine.  Enjoy the approaching skyline of Paris as you make your way into the City of Lights.  The Miro will dock at Port de la Villette.

Day 14: Paris

If you’d like to know more about this world-renowned city the skipper will be happy to accompany your on a cycle tour of Paris, including a possible visit to Versailles.Saturday

Day 15:

End of your holiday, breakfast, and departures.  We will be sad to see you go and hope that you’ll leave with only the fondest memories.
