With the fine luxury Yacht Miro, you start a wonderful and varied Bike and Boat Holiday through the Maas Valley – the Valley of the Voerregion and the three Limburg regions: the Haspengouw, De Hoge Kempen, and the Maasland. The minimum number of guests is six and the maximum is ten.

Limburg is the ultimate biking and walking paradise with more than 2000 kilometers of car-free superior quality bicycle tracks, with excellent signposts and with outstanding cuisine. It is famous for its numerous Limburg and Belgian types of beer, delicious fruit pies and chocolate pralines.

This Bike-Boat-Holiday leads us through splendid old cities and villages, and through wonderfully varied scenery.

The Tour Limburg Sensational offers guests the opportunity to extend or shorten the daily bike tours, according to their wishes. The bike rides are self-guided with maps, directions and GPS navigation systems provided.

Price: begins at $1,200.00 USD per person based on double occupancy.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Embarkation at Noon:
You receive a warm welcome on board in historic Maastricht. ~ Lovely Cruise to Liège-Angleur. (27 km.)
Discover the fiery cities.
You arrive in Maastricht via your own transportation. We embark at 12.00 o’clock p.m. in the marina Pietersplas. The marina has video surveillance and reserved parking places. On board we start with a warm welcome, a welcome drink and a briefing about the tour. The bicycle briefing takes place about 2pm. The bikes are adjusted for every individual. After this, we sail with the MIRO through the locks of Lanaye (18 meters fall) towards Liège, Angleur. The locks of Lanaye are the highest locks in the River Meuse and are an impressive event. We continue our tour through the locks of Visé through the beautiful valley of Visé to Monsin. We moor in Liège Angleur, right in the centre of the historical Old Town. We enjoy a fine dinner in Liège and in the evening there is an opportunity to take a city tour with the skipper. He takes you to the famous Cafè Chantant Le Jardin des Ollivette*, where the atmosphere is determined by the Liègois folk music and French Chansons.

Day 2:
Angleur – Eijsden – Kanne. Appr. 40km.
Riding through the valley of the Ourthe is biking and enjoying with all your senses! Early in the morning we enjoy a pleasant Skippers breakfast. After breakfast there is an opportunity to visit the famous Sunday market, La Batte, the oldest market in Belgium. Here the bikes are offloaded and after discussing the tour, we start our bike tour through the beautiful valley of the Voer to the wonderful town of Eijsden and the delightful village of Kanne. We take a beautiful rural bike tour along the small river Voer. Back in Kanne, we drink afternoon tea or coffee. Here we have dinner in a nice local restaurant and spend the night at the city quay. You are free to spend the rest of the evening as you please. You also have the opportunity to visit the Limestone caves with dinner (this is a guided tour and not included – it is 30,00eu pp).

Day 3
Bike tour Lanaken – Rekem – Maasmechelen -Bree Appr. 45 km.
A delicious breakfast – cruise and briefing of the tour. The skipper has already taken your bike from the boat and checked the pressure of your tires. Our bike tour leads us through an enchanted world of legendary castles, miraculous legends and a mysterious past. Centuries-old stories occur here in a fairy-tale setting of sweet fruit blossoms, ready to be picked, of green woods and endless panoramic views. The Land of the Haspengouw has you in its spell and will never set you free again. We visit the splendid medieval castle ruins of Pietersheim, the oldest castle between the Loire and the river Rhine. Beautiful bike landscapes and bike tracks in the national park.

We board the MIRO again in Maasmechelen and you may want to visit the outlet shopping center Maasmechelen Village. We take a beautiful sailing tour over the romantic old canal to the small border town of Bree. We moor beneath the city and here we enjoy dinner and spend the night. In the evening it is a real treat to stroll the streets of this small picturesque town.

Day 4
From Bree to Achel and Weert – Distance appr. 45 km
Taste La Dolce Vita in Limburg!
We start out with a delicious breakfast and a discussion of the tour. The skipper has already taken your bike from the boat and checked the pressure of your tires.

The Limburg National Park Hoge Kempen surprises you with beautiful bike routes between large woods, impressive land dunes, mysterious pools and we visit the old Benedictine Abby and brewery of Achel with their famous Abby beer and cheese. There are some very good bike cafés along the route, and perhaps you don’t want to go too far today? No problem. You simply shorten the route and enjoy a shopping tour in the fashionable City of Weert. We will have dinner in the city of Weert under the beautiful medieval church and spend the night on the wooded canal banks.

Day 5
Weert – Gratum – Thorn. Distance appr. 35 km or 47 km
Boundless enjoyment in Limburg!
Appr. 9:30 a.m. the bikes are taken from the boat as we discuss the tour. Meanwhile the skipper has taken your bike from the boat and he has checked the pressure of your tires. In Weert we start the bike tour over the Maas route to the little Historical Museum City of Thorn. Along the trails we view beautiful old farmhouses, castles, water and windmills alongside the splendid riverland and Limburg lakes.

Don’t forget to taste the excellent cuisine and the famous Belgian chocolate! The bike tour continues to the famous snow-white Andalucian style museum town of Thorn. Here you meet the Mirò again; your sailing hotel that has moored at the landing outside the city walls. Do you want to fish or swim??? Here the beach is white as snow and the swimming water is crystal-clear! This evening you have the opportunity to enjoy the Traditional Captains dinner or BBQ (not included 29,50 eu pp) on board the Miro.

When possible we make an evening boat cruise to Born – the view is breathtaking. This evening, you can enjoy taking a walk through this wonderful little town.

Day 6
Thorn – Maastricht. Distance appr. 45 km.
Listen in exaltation to the silence on the water!
We enjoy a delicious early breakfast and the skipper has already checked your bikes and taken them from the boat. We bike towards the sun across the beautiful Limburg lakes, we pass the impressive lock-complex at the beginning of the Juliana canal. Through the rural village of Stein with its local brewery, we ride alongside picturesque apple orchards to the village of Elslo with its magnificent castle. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch or cup of coffee. We continue our tour through the splendid wooded Limburg scenery to the historical city of Maastricht.

In the evening the Harbour Taxi or the Miro takes us to the old Historical centre of Maastricht. On Thursday evening all shops and museums are open until 9 p.m. Maastricht shows you its unequalled, delightful Burgundian side. As we return on the Miró, we enjoy a drink on the Candlelight deck, looking back on a wonderful day.

Day 7

After a delicious breakfast we disembark at 10 o’clock.

Dinner is always available in reputable local restaurants close to the harbour sites. It is possible to bring along your own bike. (No discount)
