Start your dream vacation and enjoy the advantages of your floating hotel during your bike tour along the Danube-Cycle-Path: Cruise past the magic landscapes along the river. A land full of legends and a vibrant culture will fascinate you with countless sights and monuments. If you don’t feel like biking just stay on board, relax and let the country side pass by. Due to the set-up of our Program, this cruise can also be enjoyed by non- bikers, children and “first time” cyclists. You follow the mighty Danube River from the three river city of Passau to the metropolis and city of Waltzes – Vienna. During your journey of 700 river kilometers you enjoy biking on perfect bike paths during the day and meet your ship again in the afternoon, which brings you to the next harbor. You spend the evenings on board, listening to live music, or you explore the harbors and villages.
Tour profile: Easy, Completely flat, well equipped bike path, ideal for bikers with less experience and children. The biking is self guided, tour leader on board.

M/v DUNAJ – your ship, a nostalgic, Ukrainian river cruise ship, 70 crew members - simple, but cozy, with 2 bars, music/TV salon, restaurant, reception, shop, laundry (against payment) large sun deck with deck chairs and showers. 62 cabins for max 120 passengers (double cabins with two lower beds and triple cabins with 2 lower-and one upper bed), air conditioning. Every cabin has a wash basin (cold/hot water). 10 showers and 10 toilets are in the hallways, and have to be shared.
Day-by-Day Itinerary: Danube Impressions by bike and ship, 8 DAYS
Day 1:
Passau: Individual arrival to Passau (airport Munich or Vienna), embarkation starts at 4:30 p.m. Welcome meeting, dinner, overnight
Day 2:
Passau - Schlögen - Linz (approx. 44 km/28 miles by bike). You bike on the Danube cycle path along the river passing the monastery of Engelhartszell through the famous "Schlögener Schlinge" (= "Great Loop") to Schlögen, where the ship is waiting for you. By ship you continue to Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
Day 3:
Linz - Mauthausen - Grein (approx. 65 km/41 miles by bike). Today’s bike tour takes you through meadows and forests to the quaint village of Grein with its impressive castle. The “infamous” concentration camp in Mauthausen can be visited. In the afternoon you can visit the oldest theatre in Austria.
Day 4:
Grein - Melk (approx. 51 km/32 miles by bike). The melancholic and untouched landscape of the „Strudengau" will put you into a very special mood as you continue to the „Nibelungengau“, an equally fascinating part of the Danube a landscape with soft hills and a great historic past. Pass the village of pilgrim’s Maria Taferl and reach the days destination Melk with its gorgeous baroque Benedictine monastery.
Day 5:
Melk - Krems - Vienna (approx. 40 km/25 miles by bike). Here you start the absolute highlight of your biking tour, when you bike through the Wachau from Krems to Melk, an area of UNESCO World cultural heritage. Indeed it is one of Austria’s most beautiful landscapes – the castle of Schönbühel, the abbey of Göttweig, the ruins of Aggstein and Dürnstein will fascinate you, too. You will meet your ship in Krems and continue to the metropolis "Vienna" – where your ship will dock. Close by you will find many of the famous „Heurigen“ (wine taverns).
Day 6:
Vienna - Bratislava - Vienna (approx. 54/78 km - 34/49 miles by bike). You begin your last bike stretch on the Danube cycle path, passing the castles of Eckartsau and Orth till the border city of Hainburg and cycle on to the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. Bratislava awaits you with a lively atmosphere and an impressive fortress. Late in the evening the ship will leave Bratislava for Vienna.
Day 7:
Vienna - Passau Morning at your leisure: sightseeing tours or shopping - there are many ways to discover the cultural capital Vienna. At 2 p.m. the m/v Dunaj departs for Passau. You enjoy a relaxed afternoon on board and once again let the landscape of the Danube valley with all its beauty pass by. Fun and entertainment will await you in the evening with a Gala Farewell Dinner and Crew Party.
Day 8:
Passau (disembarkation). After lunch on board you will arrive in Passau – disembarkation at approx. 2.30 p.m.
